About Me

Hi there!

My name is Miri and I'm behind the project sharkacademy.cz. 🦈🌊

Sharks have fascinated me for a long time, and gradually, what started as a casual interest has become one of my main areas of focus. I study marine biology and aquaristics, I practice freediving, and I also have SSI Shark Ecology certification. Thanks to this, I try to view sharks not just as fascinating animals, but primarily as a crucial part of marine ecosystems.

SharkAcademy.cz was born from the desire to create a place where information about sharks would be accessible, clear, and based on scientific knowledge. It is gradually evolving into a comprehensive project dedicated to sharks, their biology, behavior, environment, and conservation.

Part of SharkAcademy is also the largest Czech shark encyclopedia, which contains information about individual species from all over the world. For each shark, I try to describe not only its appearance and basic characteristics, but also its lifestyle, environment, diet, reproduction, interesting facts, or its current conservation status.

In addition to sharks themselves, I also focus on topics related to oceans, their protection, and life underwater. Freediving, moreover, allows me to spend more time in the water and get to know the marine world from a completely different perspective.

My main goal is to show that sharks are not just "dangerous predators" known from movies. They are incredibly diverse, perfectly adapted, and vital animals for the functioning of the oceans. And the more we know about them, the better we can protect them. 🦈💙

SharkAcademy is my way of passing on this passion – whether through the encyclopedia, articles, videos, or other educational projects.
