Sawfish

The sawshark is a very unusual species, possessing a long, flat snout lined with sharp teeth, resembling a saw. It uses this tool for hunting – with rapid side-to-side movements, it stuns or injures its prey. Its snout also has sensitive barbels, which help it locate food even in sand. It primarily lives on the seabed, where it feeds on small fish and invertebrates. It is often confused with sawfish (rays), but it belongs to the true sharks.
