Lesser spotted catshark

The small-spotted catshark is a small species often found in European waters. It has a slender body and typical dark spots. It earned the name "catshark" due to its eyes and movement style. It is an inconspicuous nocturnal hunter that hides on the seabed during the day. It feeds on small fish and invertebrates. Interestingly, it lays eggs enclosed in casings known as "mermaid's purses".
