Grey reef shark

The grey reef shark is one of the most typical inhabitants of coral reefs. It has a slender, hydrodynamic body and is constantly on the move, as it must actively swim to breathe. This species is known for its territorial behavior – it can guard its territory and, when threatened, displays warning postures, such as arching its body. It primarily preys on smaller fish and cephalopods. It often occurs in groups and plays an important role in the balance of reef ecosystems.
